Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (용궁사)
Initially constructed in 1376 at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty, Yonggungsa has gone through multiple naming conventions over its long existence. As well, Yonggungsa has seen its fair share of tragedy, being burned in the initial Japanese invasion of the Imjin War in 1592. Rebuilt in the 1930s, Yonggungsa received its modern face-lift more recently in the 1970s, providing its current appearance. A short trip east of Busan it’s well worth a visit to what might be Korea’s most photogenic temple.
